Dr. Thomasto ask the Secretary of State for Wales whether all outstanding disputes with developers and contractors engaged in work on ysbyty Gwynedd have now been resolved satisfactorily; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. GristAll disputes with the designers for this hospital scheme have been resolved but there remain outstanding disputes with contractors for the works.
The Welsh Health Common Services Authority continues to withhold £130,000 from IDC Ltd. to pay for remedial work to windows and cavities in the residential buildings, where further remedial work may be necessary to modify some staircase balustrades and to repair defective wall ties. Liability for these items has not yet been determined.
In the main hospital buildings there are items in dispute associated with the quality of the floor screeds in ground floor circulation areas and with the adequacy of fixings for suspended ceilings. These items are the subject of negotiations presently with the main building contractor Kyle Steward Ltd.
