HC Deb 10 April 1989 vol 150 c329W
22. Mr. Matthew Taylor

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy what representations he has received concerning the effects of increased energy prices on pensioners and the low paid.

Mr. Peter Morrison

I have received a number of representations, amounting to 38 cases raised by hon. Members during the last three years and in the same period an average of one letter a week from the general public. However, over the past five years the fuel bills of pensioners and the low paid have fallen in real terms by 15 per cent., while pensions have risen in line with the retail price index.
