To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment whether any of the sites nominated in 1988 for inclusion in the World Heritage list have been accepted.

At its meeting last December in Brasilia, the World Heritage committee agreed that the following three sites should be inscribed in the list:

  • Henderson Island, South Pacific ocean
  • The Tower of London
  • Canterbury cathedral, St. Augustine's abbey and St. Martin's church
  • For consideration by the committee in 1989, the sites we have nominated are:
  • Cambridge colleges and the Backs
  • Navan Fort, Northern Ireland
  • Maes Howe and Brogar, Orkney Islands
