HC Deb 04 April 1989 vol 150 cc157-8W
Mr. Dunnachie

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make it his policy to reject policy No. 53 of the Highland regional council's structure plan.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

As Highland regional council's structure plan review is only at the consultative draft stage this proposed policy concerning skiing at Cairngorm has not yet been submitted to my right hon. and learned Friend for his approval. Only when the council has considered the representations submitted to it in response to its consultative draft will it formally submit the structure plan to my right hon. and learned Friend for Health boards which make use of private sector facilities do so if they are cost-effective or if there are constraints which prevent a board from increasing the number of patients they can treat in-house.
