§ Dr. GlynTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if, in the light of the feelings of those who fought in the Crete campaign in 1940–41, who have not had official recognition in the form of a medal, he will waive any formalities which debar the award or acceptance of such a medal.
§ Mr. EggarAny official foreign medal designed to be worn which might be offered to British subjects in connection with the Crete campaign 1940–41 would be subject to the Foreign and Commonwealth Orders Regulations 1969, a copy of which was placed in the Library of the House in reply to a question by my right 13W hon. Friend the Member for Worthing (Mr. Higgins) answered on 27 May 1988. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office does not have discretion to waive the provisions of these regulations, which are applied consistently to all requests from foreign Governments to bestow honours, decorations and medals on United Kingdom citizens.
