HC Deb 31 October 1988 vol 139 c516W
Mr. Jacques Arnold

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what plans the Government have relating to redundancy and insolvency payments.

Mr. Nicholls

As soon as parliamentary time permits it is proposed to abolish the rebate payable on statutory redundancy payments made by employers with less than 10 employees. It is also proposed to facilitate the direct payment by the Department of certain debts to employees whose employers have become insolvent and to clarify the Department's debt recovery rights in such cases.
