To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what information he has on the collective radiation dose to people in the United Kingdom from (i) nuclear generation of electricity and (ii) generation of electricity by fossil fuels.

The National Radiological Protection Board reviews radiation doses to people in the United Kingdom. Its best estimate is that annual collective radiation doses to people in the United Kingdom from (i) nuclear generation of electricity and (ii) generation of electricity by fossil fuels are as follows:—
