§ Mr. Peter LloydDesignated equal opportunities officers in each of the 10 personnel units provide a joint service for the Department of Health and Social Security, and recruitment monitoring is one of their responsibilities. Including designated deputies and the central unit, 15 are female and eight are male; one of these is from an ethnic minority. Several positive action initiatives, not depending on the results of ethnic monitoring, are under consideration, for example access training in the north eastern region.
