HC Deb 31 October 1988 vol 139 c508W
Mr. Leighton

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what has happened to the Keep Britain Tidy Group national community programme agency under employment training.

Mr. Nicholls

On 20 May 1988 the chief executive of the Keep Britain Tidy Group informed the Training Commission that the company's board of directors had taken the decision not to participate in employment training.

In order to assist with the orderly wind down of their community programme activities it was agreed that their CP contract which was due to end on 4 September 1988, could be extended until 28 October 1988.

The company made every effort to transfer both its CP projects and participants to other providers who were moving forward into employment training.
