§ Mr. Wigley
To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will give the membership and constitution of the Welsh committee of the Universities Funding Council; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Jackson
While the UFC is required, under paragraph 10 of schedule 8 to the Education Reform Act, to establish a Welsh committee, the composition and membership of the committee are, by virtue of paragraph 9 of the schedule, for the council itself to determine.
