To ask the Secretary of State for Energy if he will make a statement upon the import of uranium from Namibia since 1977.

Imports of uranium ore from Namibia for the United Kingdom's civil nuclear programme were made from 1977 to 1984 by the Central Electricity Generating Board, on behalf of the British Civil Uranium Procurement Directorate. There are no plans to import further supplies from Namibia.
