HC Deb 27 October 1988 vol 139 c379W
Mr. Strang

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what amount of the Health and Safety Executive's resources were allocated to the scientific investigation of the causes of the King's Cross fire; and what work was postponed or abandoned to allow for this task.

Mr. Nicholls

The Health and Safety Executive contribution to the scientific investigation is estimated at £0.75 million, including eight man years' work. Work on the investigation was accommodated primarily by changing priorities in research programmes and delaying work on particular projects, for example, the European Commission's major technological hazards research programme.
