How many City Technology colleges are now in being, how may will be functioning by September 1990. how much money has been contributed altogether by industry, how much by the Government, both for these colleges in existence, and those expected to be opened.
§ Viscount DavidsonOne City Technology College, Kingshurst, is now open and two more, the Teesside and Nottingham, will open in September 1989. Further CTCs will be established as sponsors are able to acquire sites. The estimated capital cost of acquiring the Kingshurst site and adapting part of the existing buildings is £3.45 million, £1 million of which has been contributed by sponsors, who have pledged a further £1 million towards additional capital expenditure at the college; the cash limit for capital expenditure on the Nottingham CTC is £9.05 million, £1.6 million of which has already been raised by sponsors: and the cash limit for the Teesside CTC is £7.5 million. of which £1.53 million has been pledged by sponsors. It is not possible to specify sponsors' contributions to other CTCs until announcements are made.
