HC Deb 27 October 1988 vol 139 c352W
20. Mr. Ashley

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what progress has been mde in simplifying the proposed customs procedures on Channel tunnel rail connections.

Mr. Brooke

For trains terminating in London, we envisage customs checks at Waterloo using the familiar red and green channel system. This should involve no delay at all for the vast majority of passengers.

Discussions are still going on between Customs and British Rail particularly about the facilities required for on-train controls for services going beyond London.
