§ 32. Mr. SumbergTo ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what steps have been taken by the education unit within his Department to ensure that school teachers receive some experience of British industry.
§ Mr. ForthOne of the aims of the enterprise and education initiative, which was launched on 28 September, is that 10 per cent. of teachers should have the opportunity to gain experience of the world of business. DTI is developing a teacher placement programme with advice from education and industry, and it is proposed to have it in place early in 1989.
The programme will be completely voluntary and will supplement and increase any local teacher placement activity which may already be taking place.
