To ask the Secretary of State for Employment whether he intends to relocate any of his staff in Runcorn.

Mr. Lee

The Employment Department already has about 900 of its headquarter staff located in Runcorn. But in common with other Government Departments, the Department is currently reviewing the potential for moving more of its headquarter work from London and the south-east. A number of alternative locations are under consideration, of which Runcorn is one, but it will be some time yet before final decisions are taken.
