§ Mr. Alan ClarkSince my Department's Invest in Britain bureau started formally recording individual investment projects in 1979, there have been 2,434. These include the establishment of a new business, the expansion or acquisition of an existing business, and involvement in joint venture. Altogether, from the information provided by the companies themselves, these have been responsible for the creation of nearly 160,000 jobs and, since 1983, are known to have safeguarded some 95,000 others.
