To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on the confrontations between campaigners for nuclear-free seas in inflatable dinghies and Royal Navy ships at Scottish ports in July.

On 12 July, at Rosyth, six people in inflatable craft were apprehended by Ministry of Defence police and charged with offences under local byelaws. On 21 July, at Holy Loch, three people were apprehended by Ministry of Defence police on board a Royal Maritime Auxiliary Service vessel, and charged with similar offences. There were no confrontations with Royal Navy ships.
