To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what proportion of(a) part-time and (b) full-time workers receive job training provided by their employers excluding YTS trainees.

Mr. Cope

The funding study carried out by the then MSC showed that in the full year 1986–87, nearly half of employees working over 10 hours a week had received some job-related training provided by their employers. The labour force survey carried out in the spring of 1987, showed that 13 per cent. of full-time employees and 8 per cent. of part-time employees had received job-related training in the four weeks before their interview.
