HC Deb 24 October 1988 vol 139 c37W
Mr. Goodlad

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what communications he has had with the council of Lloyd's following its consideration of the working group on underwriting agency agreements; and if he will place copies of the relevant correspondence in the Library.

Mr. Maude

The chairman of Lloyd's has kept my Department in close touch with the views of the council of Lloyd's on the subjects considered in the working group report on underwriting agency agreements. I understand that the council of Lloyd's will soon be taking decisions on these matters following extensive consultation with the members of Lloyd's and the Lloyd's community. It is not the practice to make public correspondence between Lloyd's and the Department. Parliament is kept informed on Lloyd's progress in implementing the recommendations of the committee of inquiry into regulatory arrrangements at Lloyd's—the Neill report—by the placing in the Library of regular memoranda from the chairman of Lloyd's.
