HC Deb 24 October 1988 vol 139 c6W
Sir Geoffrey Finsberg

To ask the Attorney-General on what date he received the 23rd report of the Law Reform Committee (Cmmd. 8733); when he intends to introduce the amendments to the Solicitors Remuneration Order recommended therein; and if he will make a statement.

The Attorney-General

The 23rd report of the Law Reform Committee on the powers and duties of trustees (Cmnd. 8733) was published on 19 October 1982. The council of the Law Society agreed in principle to the changes to the Solicitors Remuneration Order recommended on that report in June 1987. Discussions on their implementation have now concluded. It is expected that the Law Society will invite the committee responsible under section 56 of the Solicitors Act 1974 for amendments to the order to make a new order early in 1989.
