§ 107. Mr. LordTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what assistance Her Majesty's Government is providing to help the recent large influxes of Sudanese and Somali refugees into Ethiopia.
§ Mr. Chris PattenSo far in 1988 we have provided over £5.6 million—£4 million to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in the form of cash and foodstuffs, and £1.5 million to British voluntary agencies working with UNHCR to supply water and medical services to Somalis in south-east Ethiopia. We are considering what further help might be provided.
