HC Deb 24 October 1988 vol 139 c63W
Mr. Wallace

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what the cost would be in the current year if the 1973 improvements in the armed forces pension scheme were to be extended to(a) pre-1973 war widows and (b) service men entitled to disability pension in respect of injuries received before 1973.

Mr. Freeman

It is estimated that if the 1973 improvements to the armed forces pensions scheme were extended so as to pay pensions on the same basis and rates as for current awards, the additional cost for the full year would be(a) for war widows, in the region of £200 million and (b) for disabled ex-service men, in the region of £400 million.
