§ Mr. GoodladTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will list in theOfficial Report the noise levels registered by (a) BAC 111 and (b) Boeing 727 aircraft prior to their receipt of noise certificates; and what are the current United Kingdom and international noise limitations.
§ Mr. Peter BottomleyThe table gives the internationally agreed noise levels (to which the United Kingdom subscribes) at the three measurement points that a selection of BAC 111 and B 727 aircraft have to meet. It also gives the measured noise levels for the aircraft before acoustic treatment (hushkitting) and their noise certificated levels.

§ Mr. GoodladTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport what discussions he has had with the chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority about the move of preferred noise routings resulting from alterations in the locations of navigation beacons at Manchester airport in 1987; what reasons were given for the changes; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Peter BottomleyNone. Departure routes from Manchester airport are a matter for Manchester Airport plc and the Civil Aviation Authority.
§ Mr. GoodladTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport what monitoring of noise levels his Department conducts in the vicinity of Manchester airport; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Peter BottomleyNone. This is the responsibility of Manchester Airport plc.
§ Mr. GoodladTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport what are the maximum permissible ground noise levels resulting from aircraft flights.
§ Mr. Peter BottomleyAt Heathrow and Gatwick airports the maximum permissible take-off noise levels, measured at the nearest noise monitor, are 110 PNdB by day and 102 by night. At Stansted airport we have not yet set take-off noise limits. At other airports noise limits are a matter for the airport operators.
