§ Sir Michael McNair-WilsonTo ask the Secretary of State for Health in which hospitals clinical trials of erythropoietin are being carried out; and how many patients are involved.
§ Mr. MellorClinical trials of erythropoietin are currently under way in 38 hospitals in the United Kingdom and 132 patients are participating. They have all given their consent to take part. Representatives of the clinical investigators have asked that no details of the trial sites should be published to avoid the risk of direct publicity disturbing arrangements between patients and investigators which could in turn lead to delay in completing the trials and to other difficulties.
