To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement concerning the financing of the Sea Fish Industry Authority.

Following consultation with interested organisations, the authority has now published its intentions to make regulations increasing the present rate of levy from £3.50 per tonne to £7 per tonne with effect from 1 April 1989. In deciding whether to confirm these regulations, fisheries Ministers will take into account any industry objections made to them.
