HC Deb 20 October 1988 vol 138 c978W
Q156. Dr. Bray

To ask the Prime Minister what advice she has received from the Medical Research Council, the Imperial Cancer Research Fund, the Cancer Research Campaign, the United Kingdom Co-ordinating Committee for Cancer Research, the Advisory Council on Science and Technology or any other body regarding the £6 million grant to a London hospital for a cyclotron for neutron and proton therapy; and if she will make a statement.

The Prime Minister

The Minister for Health announced on 7 June the award of a grant to the Cyclotron Trust as a contribution towards the charitable funds it is raising to provide a cyclotron at St. Thomas's hospital to improve the care of cancer patients. I have received a letter from Sir Raymond Hoffenberg, chairman of the United Kingdom Co-ordinating Committee on Cancer Research, and a reply has been sent today.
