HC Deb 20 October 1988 vol 138 c981W
Mr. Stanbrook

To ask the Attorney-General what remuneration is paid to county court judges in Northern Ireland.

The Solicitor-General

The salary of a county court judge in Northern Ireland is currently £45,800. County court judges are presently in group 6 of the judicial salary structure. The Government have decided that they should be paid at the higher group 5 rate for as long as they are required to carry out significantly different work from their counterparts elsewhere in the United Kingdom, as is currently the case. They will therefore be paid £50,180 with effect from 1 April 1988, increasing to £50,900 with effect from October, in line with the Government's implementation of the recommendations on judicial salaries in the 1988 report of the Top Salaries Review Body.
