HC Deb 19 October 1988 vol 138 c955W
Mr. A. Cecil Walker

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland why housing insulation standards are lower in Northern Ireland than in Scotland and England; what steps are being taken to introduce the latest standards to Northern Ireland; and when these new standards will be implemented in Northern Ireland.

Mr. Needham

The same thermal insulation standards apply in Northern Ireland as in Great Britain. It is the intention that, subject to consultation with interested parties, standards in Northern Ireland will be adjusted to reflect any increase in standards in Great Britain.
