HC Deb 19 October 1988 vol 138 c849W
Mr. Spearing

To ask the Prime Minister what steps have been taken or are planned by any institution of the European Economic Communities to implement the opinion of the European Council meeting at Hanover, that there was a need to associate the European Parliament more closely with its decisions; and for what reason she concurred with that opinion.

The Prime Minister

The conclusions of the Hanover European Council reflect our wish to encourage the continued constructive involvement of all the institutions, including the European Parliament, in the business of the Community. The co-operation procedure laid down in the Single European Act provides a further way of associating the European Parliament more closely in the decisions of the Council.
