To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he expects to hold talks in the near future with his Spanish counterpart and the Spanish Minister of EEC Affairs on the suggestions which the United Kingdom intends to put forward for the period of the Spanish presidency, beginning on 1 January 1989.

My right hon. and learned Friend saw the Spanish Foreign Minister yesterday and discussed a number of issues including future developments in the European Community. I am also in regular contact with my Spanish opposite number on these issues.
