§ Mr. AllenTo ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make: a statement on the future of community projects currently operated by the community programme in Nottingham and elsewhere.
§ Mr. NichollsLocal officials of the Training Agency held a series of presentations with all community programme agents and sponsors to ensure, wherever possible, the satisfactory transition of community programme projects into employment training. Project-based places have an important role within employment training and substantial provision has been made for this in the new programme.
§ Ms. ArmstrongTo ask the Secretary of State for Employment what representations he has had regarding redundancies in community task force.
§ Mr. NichollsIn July 1988 community task force sought advice from the Training Agency about the issue of redundancy notices to CTF employees whose services would not be required from 5 September 1988.
In response, in August, the Training Agency outlined the procedures, which included details of financial help available to CP agents/sponsors, including CTF.
§ Ms. ArmstrongTo ask the Secretary of State for Employment how many employees of the community task 865W force have had redundancy notices sent to them as a result of replacing the community programme and the jobs training scheme with the adult training programme.
§ Mr. NichollsA total of 235 employees were issued with redundancy notices by community task force as a result of the change to employment training.
All of those concerned had the opportunity to apply for alternative posts in employment training and in the event 138 people actually left.
