HC Deb 19 October 1988 vol 138 c919W
Mr. Dobson

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether consideration has been or is being or will be given to the possibility of levying charges on those who will use the new British library building under construction in Euston road, London NW1.

Mr. Luce

I have been asked to reply.

The British library board plans to maintain the free provision of its basic services. At the same time, consideration will continue to be given as needed to supplementing the grant-in-aid with charges for the provision of value-added or premium services as is done at present. This applies both to the library's present accommodation and to the new building at St. Pancras.
