HL Deb 12 October 1988 vol 500 c927WA
Lord Plummer of St. Marylebone

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are aware that provision was made for an underpass under the island at the east end of Westminster Bridge and what use is going to be made of this.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Transport (Lord Brabazon of Tara)

I understand the design of the office block built on the island site at the eastern end of Westminster Bridge in the late 1960s is such that a road underpass could be constructed underneath. I am not aware of any subsequent proposals for such an underpass.
