HC Deb 29 November 1988 vol 142 c184W
Mr. Teddy Taylor

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on Her Majesty's Government's policy on the proposed establishment of a Palestinian state.

Mr. Adley

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he has any plans to recognise a state of Palestine; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Waldegrave

The decisions taken by the Palestine National Council represent a modest but potentially important step towards a peaceful settlement of the Arab-Israeli conflict, although we believe that the declaration of a Palestinian state does not help carry matters forward.
