HC Deb 25 November 1988 vol 142 c35W
Mr. Corbett

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will now review the list of property which long-term prisoners are able to possess with a view to enabling them, at the discretion of the governor, to possess electronic games of an educational nature.

Mr. Hurd

Prison standing order 4, a copy of which is in the Library of the House, describes privileges available to prisoners and the conditions under which they may be granted. Long-term prisoners in dispersal prisons may, in addition, have in their possession items from a list that is approved by the Prison Department. It has recently been agreed that this list should be amended to include certain electronic games that can be played in prisoners' cells.
