Mr. Austin Mitchell

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what has been the average percentage increase in rent and rates payable before and after relief by those aged over 75 years, over the past three years and the percentage increase in their state pension; and by how much their rent and rates/poll tax is expected to increase or decrease in the next three years.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

Including the November 1984 uprating and the April 1988 uprating the basic state retirement pension rose by 14.9 per cent. The rest of the information requested is not available.
