Mr. Gale

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will set out in theOfficial Report a table showing the income, expressed on a per capita basis, for each of the regional health authorities of England and Scotland and for Wales for the years 1983–84 to 1986–87.

Cash-based information for health regions in England is shown in the table. Questions about health authorities in Scotland and Wales are matters for my right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland and my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales.

Notes to the table:

1. The total cash resources for each region are those used for all revenue and capital purposes and cash drawn from the Department. Local income and payments made centrally or by other authorities on behalf of the authorities within each region is also included.

2. The population figures make no allowance for persons resident in one region who receive treatment in another or for differences in age/sex structures and morbidity.

3. Resources employed by family practitioner committees to meet payments to doctors, dentists, pharmacists and others contracted to provide family practitioner services are excluded.
