HC Deb 14 November 1988 vol 140 c379W
Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science at what level of(a) annual, (b) monthly and (c) weekly income (i) gross and (ii) net of tax and national insurance, graduates will begin to repay loans taken out as outlined in the White Paper on top-up loans for students (Cm.520).

Mr. Jackson

The White Paper, "Top-up Loans for Students" (Cm. 520) proposes that repayments should be responsive to income, and sets out various possible repayment regimes. The threshold at which repayments begin will depend on the repayment regime that is adopted in the light of further consultation and on the prevailing level of earnings at the time.
