To ask the Secretary of State for Energy whether he proposes to privatise British Electricity Ltd.

Mr. Michael Spicer

British Electricity International is to be transferred to the CEGB, and will eventually become a wholly-owned subsidiary of the larger of the two CEGB successor generation companies to be formed under the Government's privatisation proposals.

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy whether he proposes to privatise British Nuclear Fuels plc together with subsidiary and associated companies.

Mr. Michael Spicer

The Government have no plans at present to sell shares in British Nuclear Fuels plc.

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy whether he proposes to offer for sale that part of the National Nuclear Corporation Ltd. which at present is held by the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority.

I refer my hon. Friend to the answer given to my hon. Friend the Member for Lancashire, West (Mr. Hind) on 27 July 1988 at column292. The sale of the shareholding was completed on 31 August 1988.

I have no present plans to do so.
