To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what atmospheric monitoring facilities exist in the Greater Manchester area for the detection and measurement of pollution; who is responsible for the operation of such facilities; and to whom they report.

The table below gives details of the air pollution monitoring undertaken on behalf of his Department and, so far as can he ascertained, on behalf of other bodies.
