To ask the Secretary of State for Energy if, pursuant to his reply of 22 July,Official Report, column 884, he will disaggregate the figures for (a) operations and (b) safety for each of the years shown.

The figures for operations and safety cannot be disaggregated.

Safety has always been and will remain an integral part of the duties of all inspectorate staff.

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy if, pursuant to his reply of 22 July,Official Report, column 884, what has been the annual budget and the annual staffing complement of the section of his Department with responsibility for implementation of the proposals in the White Paper "Lifting the Burden" (Cmnd. 9571).

There are two staff whose duties include responsibility for implementing the proposals in Command 9571. The estimated costs of their work on this activity, including administrative support, are as follows:
