Mr. Parry

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations Her Majesty's Government has made to the South African Government for the release of Oscar Mpetha; and if he will make a statement.

We have made representations to the South African Government on behalf of Mr. Mpetha on at least five occasions, most recently on 5 September. We shall continue to press the South African Government to release Mr. Mpetha on humanitarian grounds.
