§ Mr. Chris PattenI met representatives from the Desert Locust Control Organisation for Eastern Africa on 26 October. I confirmed Britain's support for the organisation and that we would be providing an additional £500,000 of emergency aid in support of its locust control activities. I had further discussions with the organisation in Ethiopia last week. I have decided to make another £1 million emergency aid available for locust control in eastern Africa. This brings the total British support pledged for locust control in Africa since the beginning of last year to over £7.5 million.
