To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list all the consultation documents, draft statutory instruments, circulars and letters to chief education officers which have so far been issued by his Department as a direct result of the passing of the Education Reform Act 1988, together with those likely to be issued in the foreseeable future.

Consultation documents, draft statutory instruments, circulars and letters to chief education officers and other interested bodies which have so far been issued by the Welsh Office as a direct result of the passing of the Education Reform Act 1988, and those likely to be issued in the foreseeable future, are as follows:

Issued to date

Circulars

Since the end of July the following circulars of advice have been issued to LEAs and other interests following the passing of the Education Reform Act: Circular 36/88 Education Reform Act 1988: Local management of schools—30 September 1988. Circular 37/88 Education Reform Act 1988: Governance of maintained further and higher education colleges in Wales—20 September 1988. Circular 38/88 Education Reform Act 1988: Local management of further and higher education institutions in Wales; planning and delegation schemes and articles of government—30 September 1988. Circular 47/88 Admission of pupils to county and voluntary schools—11 November 1988.

Draft circulars

The following draft circulars have been issued for consultation to interested bodies including chief education officers. Final circulars will be issued on completion of the consultation.

Education Reform Act 1988: Religious education and collective worship—26 October 1988.

National curriculum: Mathematics for aged 5–16—16 August.

National curriculum: Science for ages 5–16—16 August.

The national curriculum Welsh working group's interim report was published on 9 November and the group is consulting interested bodies about it.
