To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment of any emergency services were informed of the radioactive cloud that passed over the north-west of England on the night of the 28–29 October, and if he will make a statement.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) what advice has been given to the local authorities that might be affected by the radioactive cloud that blew across the north-west on the night of 28–29 October;

(2) what steps his Department have taken to establish the source of the gaseous radioactive waste that blew across the north-west of England on the night of 28–29 October; and if he will make a statement.
