To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) if his meeting with journalists on Friday about future plans for pensions was recorded by tape or other means; and if he will make a statement;

(2) if meetings he has with journalists from the press lobby are recorded; and if he will make a statement.

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will place a copy of the tape recording of his briefing with journalists on 4 November in the Library.

Mr. Winnick

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what record was kept by his staff of the briefing he gave to Sunday newspaper correspondents on 4 November; whether it is intended to bring the record of the exchanges at that meeting officially in to the public domain; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Gordon Brown

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) whether, pursuant to his oral answers of 7 November,Official Report, columns 22–27, he will publish in the Official Report a verbatim record of his briefing to journalists on Friday 4 November;
