HC Deb 11 November 1988 vol 140 c345W
Mr. Allan Stewart

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he has any plans to change the current arrangements governing the sale of surplus National Health Service property; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

Following discussions yesterday with the chairmen of health boards, I have decided that health boards will retain the total proceeds from the disposal of land and property, during a strictly finite period ending in March 1991. This will give further encouragement for health boards to rationalise their property in the interests of reducing costs and improving health care.
