HC Deb 11 November 1988 vol 140 cc338-9W
Mr. Vaz

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department on how many occasions immigration cases have been discussed by hon. and right hon. Members with the Minister of State at the Home Department; and what is the total number of hours these meetings have lasted for the years 1980 to 1987 inclusive, and for each month for 1988.

Mr. Renton

I see hon. and right hon. Members frequently, both in the Home Office and the House, to discuss immigration cases. Statistics for the number of meetings held in the years 1980 to 1987 are not available. About 48 meetings have been held in the Home Office from 1 January 1988 to 10 November: 4 in January, 8 in February, 8 in March, 4 in April, 5 in May, 5 in June, 4 in July, 2 in August, 3 in September, 1 in October and 4 in November. The length of meetings is not recorded.
