To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he or the Lord Advocate has now sought information regarding reasons for cases being marked for 'no proceedings' by the procurators fiscal.

Reasons for cases being marked for no proceedings are regularly sought both in relation to individual cases and procurator fiscal service work loads.

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) how many witnesses were cited for cases that adjourned without proceedings in(a) Edinburgh district, (b) Glasgow district, (c) Hamilton district and (d) Dunfermline district in June;

(2) how many witnesses were cited for cases that adjourned without proceedings in: (a) Edinburgh Sheriff Court, (b) Glasgow Sheriff Court, (c) Hamilton Sheriff Court and (d) Dunfermline Sheriff Court in June.
